They Funny Ladies...

Chelsea Handler hit the internet a few months ago with an idea that seemed pretty tame for her. Taking emails and story submissions from real life mothers all over the country, she (and a few celebrity friends) acted out tales of domesticity in six-minute web only clips. Sponsored by Suave and Sprint, In The Motherhood also starred Jenny McCarthy, Lainie Kazan, and Leah Remini (and her real life husband as her on-screen husband) and offered laughs on anything from telling your child what sex is (Remini) to bribing your kids to let you out when you accidentally lock yourself in the bathroom and chokeables (both Handler).

Now, ABC has picked up the series with a thirteen-episode order, and though they are partially recasting with Megan Mullally and Cheryl Hines, fun is still guaranteed to be had. Yes, being on a network might force Handler and Co. to "take it down a notch" and adhere to Standards and Practices, it is still cool to see such big things happening from something that came from such a small medium. After the first season, In The Motherhood really took off with more detailed arcs for each character, as well as a focus on some familiar face guest stars (Jane Curtain was a personal favorite of mine). Though In The Motherhood will most likely end up as a mid-season replacement, I have already made room for it in my calendar (which in the next few days, you will see is actually quite full already), and that note I jotted down, I must add, is in ink.
