WMFATA: Gwen Stewart...

No one else in this world has the privilege of saying that the great Jonathan Larson wrote more music for her. When he was workshopping RENT back in the early nineties, Stewart was cast as the soloist in what many deem the "theme song" to the show: "Seasons of Love." The music stopped, but she was so caught up in the moment, she just kept singing a bit, and Larson looked around and said "Well, I guess I'll write some more." She was just that good.
Why My Friends Are Talking About Her: Though Stewart has done many other Broadway shows, RENT is the one that made her a household name-- at least among us "theater geeks," anyway, and she is back now in the touring cast. Stewart has also said that she would love to release a solo albums "just as soon as the money starts rolling in." She is an incomparable talent, second only to Ms. Mariah Carey in my mind!, and we think we should set up a fun and pass the collection plate right now because that solo album is a long time coming!
