WWATN: Ask And Ye Shall Receive...

Though he had been in a number of successful television series (Party of Five, The $treet, and Ryan Caulfield: Year One, in which he actually played the lead), Sean Maher didn't tuly capture attention and steal hearts (at least from quite a few fangirls I personally know) until his role as Dr. Simon Tam on Joss Whedon's sci-fi cult classic Firefly. In 2005 he resurrected that role on the big screen in the film "ending" Serenity. But after that, fans were left with a kind of "Now what?" wondering as Maher seemed to fade into the background much more easily than they would have liked.
For awhile, it appeared like Maher may have gotten stuck in the CBS guest star well, appearing on shows like CSI: Miami and Ghost Whisperer. Two appearances in four years is hardly anything for his fans, or the actor himself, over which to get too excited! But Maher may have struck gold once again with the equally obsessive fandom that surrounds women's entertainment: in 2006 he was cast in a Lifetime Television original (Wedding Wars) with Eric Dane and John Stamos, and he is all set to appear in the Margaret Cho comedy Drop Dead Diva. A leftover from Fox, Lifetime snatched up the "shallow model-in-training who dies in a sudden accident only to find her soul resurfacing in the body of a brilliant, thoughtful and plus-size attorney" series back in January, and it is all set to begin airing this summer. Maher will be back on the small screen where he belongs in only a matter of months!

Much like how Maher's fans demanded a television return for the actor, this blog was inspired by a write-in nomination for the column. If you have someone you've been wondering about, feel free to leave the name in the comments or @reply me on Twitter: @danielletbd

Yay! Thanks, Danielle. I just started re-watching Firefly with my friend, and I do so miss seeing Sean on my TV. Though, I'm wary of anything on Lifetime. lol
