WMFATA: Kathy Griffin...

Kathy Griffin has truly transformed herself from just a gossiping comedienne and wannabe actress (though I personally think she was great on Suddenly Susan and I would still hire her for my comedy, should it ever go anywhere). The sharp tongued two-time Emmy winner is slowly becoming an empire and is just about everywhere, thrilling her fans and causing her critics to roll their eyes. Though her reality show has not underwent a name change as of yet, it has gotten a much needed facelift, so to speak, since its star has most certainly moved up a few rungs, to at least the B List! Griffin will soon add author to her list of credits, as her first book, a memoir entitled "Official Book Club Selection" (suck it, Oprah!-- no, that is not the official tag, but it should be!) is set to hit shelves in early September. This comes just in time for her to not only host the Schmemmy's (the Creative Arts Emmys) this fall but of course also win another statue!

Why My Friends Are Talking About Her: As if I didn't give you reasons enough just a paragraph ago, these days Griffin is absolutely everywhere! She appeared on Paris' New BFF, giving the wannabes advice on how to be candid and make fun of each other; she will appear on HGTV's Design Star in a few weeks, and last night she appeared once again on television, hosting the long overdue airing of Comedy Central's Roast of Joan Rivers. There she was of course classic Kathy: shocking if you aren't familiar with her style but real, raw, and unforgettable either way. She also showed up to the Teen Choice Awards green carpet with a date worthy of only the tabloids: Bristol Palin's baby daddy, Levi Johnston. Coincidentally ( yeah right, as if this wasn't a carefully constructed publicity tour!), tonight is the season finale of My Life on the D-List on Bravo. Set your TiVos! Or better yet, flip it on at ten and watch "live," just like the old days!
