One To Watch: Alphonso McAuley...

2011 is going to be the year of Alphonso McAuley. The comedic actor (and sometime writer, producer, and director) is starring in not one but two original comedies making their mid-season debut. First up is TV One's Love That Girl where he acts opposite Tatyana Ali as her live-in stand-up comedian brother, and then come April you can catch him on the more mainstream FOX channel in Breaking In, an offbeat workplace sitcom about a top-notch security firm.

To see my full interview with McAuley, head over to my Examiner page...

McAuley, who is thus far most known for his time on Comedy Central's Chocolate News with David Alan Grier or his turn as Bucky from the live action Fat Albert film, steals scenes in both comedies for his own specific sense of humor. He has wide eyes but an even wider grin-- one that lights up a room and the screen. It doesn't matter if he's supposed to be a slacker or a geek, obsessed with George Lucas and Chunky bars (the latter are character developments from the Breaking In pilot), McAuley seems to truly be having fun with anything he is given. His enthusiasm shines through to the characters, making them guys with whom you definitely want to hang out.

You can catch McAuley on TVOne resuming tonight and on FOX come April 2011.
