From LA Examiner: 'Friends with Benefits' May Finally Air; Kathy Griffin Returns To Bravo; 'The Firm' Casts Its New Mitch McDeere; 'Leverage' Scoop...

"In Happy Endings withdrawal? Friends with Benefits may be for you!"

If you’ve been waiting for that little NBC relationship comedy, Friends with Benefits, that they ordered to series during the upfronts of 2010, to actually premiere…well, you probably gave up hope by now, right? It was slated for mid-season but never materialized on the schedule. And then the summer schedule was released, and it wasn’t there either. Fans of Danneel Harris-Ackles and Jessica Lucas probably assumed it was just going to end up on the cutting room floor of NBC’s programming department, tucked away in an archive, never to be seen. But yesterday The Futon Critic announced that NBC was planning to “burn off” the episodes they paid for and shot on Saturdays this summer, starting June 25th... [MORE]

"Kathy Griffin returns to Bravo in brand-new stand-up special Gurrl Down!"

Though comedienne Kathy Griffin has said she has no more plans to continue her hilarious, and at times touching (and Emmy Winning!), reality show Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List for Bravo, that does not mean her relationship with the cable lifestyle network has come to a complete end. Since 2005, she has rocked their ratings televising select stand-up shows and airing them for anyone who missed her when she blew through their town to see. And now, her latest one, Kathy Griffin: Gurrl Down! is set to premiere on Tuesday, June 22nd... [MORE]

"The Firm's Mitchell McDeere emerges from witness protection-- and he's Josh Lucas!"

NBC picked up new law drama The Firm (yes, that The Firm-- from John Grisham's novel) right before their upfront ceremony in May of this year. But at the time it had not yet been cast, let alone a pilot shot. Now we have confirmation from the network that the lead role has gone to Josh Lucas... [MORE]

"Leverage scoop: Danny Glover guest stars; Hardison & Parker get juicy"

The season four premiere of Leverage starts with a big bang. A big, snowy bang actually, which is a bit odd considering it is premiering in the summer months. To those of us watching at home, escaping the scorching heat of the outside world, the snow and ice on-screen may radiate well enough to keep us cool. For series star Aldis Hodge, though, the snow was so much more than just set dressing; it was a way for the cast to bond and keep things fresh and interesting, even after having been on this job for a number of years now... "A Smash soundtrack is already in the works"

Smash has yet to air on NBC, and it won't until mid-season, in 2012. But today NBC and Columbia Records already agreed to a deal for recording rights to the music performed in the series. LA TV Insider Examiner was lucky enough to receive an advance (not for review) copy of the pilot of Smash and its showstopping melodies, mixed with beautiful storytelling, quickly shot it to the number one new show of the season for us, so this announcement could not have come too soon...
