The Resurrection of Tupac Shakur...

I don't know how I feel about the ever-evolving technology that we have today. On one hand, I'm thrilled to be able to fill boring afternoons by playing Scrabble or Pictionary type games with people I don't even know from who-knows-where (though I still wish there was a "skip" button in DrawSomething when I'm trying to guess the other person's drawing because all I really need is to see what it looks like when they're done, not spend three minutes of battery life watching them get there!). On the other hand, though, time-wasting Apps aside, are we really using this technology the best we can?

Last night at Coachella, something amazing and disturbing happened all at once. During Snoop Dogg's set, he brought out an old friend. No, not Dr. Dre, though he was there, too. I'm talking about Tupac Shakur. Yes, that Tupac. Using cutting edge hologram technology from an old concert, and what I imagine was some fantastic dub work to create a way for the famous rapper to say What up to Coachella, the late visionary graced the stage one last time. It was haunting and inspiring all at the same time. And I'm sure it didn't help the conspiracy theories that Tupac isn't actually dead anyway.

I wasn't there live, and I didn't catch the livestream either, but this clip of the duo performing together captures the insanity of it all as well as anything on YouTube can. I'm fascinated. But I can't help but be fearful of what the next step in this kind of technology will be...
