After last week’s emotional reveal that those who found themselves in the bottom of America’s votes on The Voice would have to “sing for their coach’s save,” the contestants from Teams Adam and Cee Lo probably couldn’t relax much waiting to hear the verdict. All six from each had to prepare a final chance number “just in case,” and if they were unlucky enough to hear their voice called, they had mere minutes to compose themselves emotionally and put on a great performance-- so great that it would warrant a return the following week. When The Voice first burst on the reality television scene, the focus was on the positivity surrounding the coaches and contestants. Unlike other reality singing competitions, it boasted, no one would make it to the televised rounds at all if they didn't have a good voice. They wanted to celebrate and cultivate talent, not exploit those with loftier dreams than abilities. And the first season lived up to the expectations. Week after week, the singers from Team Adam, Team Blake, Team Cee Lo, and Team Christina raised the bar for big performances and big vocals, and their coaches sang their praises.
