Usually our ‘second look’ new series reviews only apply when we’ve drastically changed our opinion of a new show from pilot to episode three. In the case of Elementary, we found ourselves pleasantly surprised right off the bat at its smarts but willingness to have fun, too. The bonus for us with this show is that as episodes have gone along, we have continuously found ourselves more pleasantly surprised by the content the “could have been just another procedural” crime drama is doling out... We don't know about you, but we didn't necessarily peg Chloe (Krysten Ritter) as one who enjoyed dressing up for Halloween on Don't Trust The B---- in Apartment 23. We did, however, completely-- and correctly, it seems-- assume that June (Dreama Walker) would be all about the holiday. But perhaps the real surprise from the second season special episode is just how far James (James Van Der Beek) takes his own celebratory plans... [MORE]
