Summer TV used to be a wasteland of reruns and reality, and while that is still true in a lot of respects, at least the amount of new and original content has gone up exponentially in the last few years. You (or I) may not love all of the options, but at least we can agree that having options at all is a good thing, right?
We Have Thoughts thinks so and took a detour from our usual vodcasts to dive into the reality waters of Summer 2013 TV. There's some good, some bad, and some so bad it's good (okay, it's mostly the latter). And then of course there's my favorite scripted summer series for good measure.
Disclaimer, though: We shot these segments prior to the Big Brother 15 cast being outed on the live feeds as being terrible bigots. In fact, only the premiere had aired on CBS at the time. I would have addressed that (and so much more, including my deep, deep dislike of the living Ken Doll) had I seen more before we discussed, but maybe that's just fodder for another, equally late vodcast. Regardless, I think my commentary about how these people character assassinate themselves is more poignant now because of it.
