After an extremely successful first year at L.A. City College, Gillian Morshedi is bringing CommuniCon back to Los Angeles for the second time this year. The second fan-organized convention celebrating NBC's cult comedy Community will be taking place October 19 and 20 2013 at the Embassy Suites in Glendale, CA.
That's right, the October 19th date has been reclaimed!
"I'm really excited to have CommuniCon back in LA in October. It was so much fun last time, and went so much better than I could have expected, so I'm thrilled to be planning the next one. I chose October 19 for the obvious reason, but it's also my birthday, so I'm pretty delighted by that too," Morshedi said.
The details of the events, including panel attendees and fan opportunities are still to be announced, but tickets are going on sale today, exclusively as Kickstarter rewards, with 375 attendee spots available as awards for donations of $40 and higher. This still marks a bigger convention for the sequel than the February event that featured "Dan Harmon and a Microphone," a writers' panel, a supporting actors' panel, and a trivia contest hosted by yours truly.
"My focus this time is making sure the follow-up doesn't disappoint. I just want people to have at least as much fun as they did at the first CommuniCon. I want to bring people's favorite parts back, without putting on an identical event. And I went with a hotel this time so we could have more space for attendees, and more opportunities for convenient socializing," Morshedi said.
"I haven't figured out how to completely avoid cliches yet, so, please forgive me for resorting to this, but basically: I want it to be a little bigger and a little better!"
